Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bowenwork?

It is slow gentle movements over specific places on your body. Bowenwork relaxes your muscles, stimulates circulation, realigns your body, relieves pain, balances your body and opens your body up to begin to heal itself. Bowenwork is appropriate for everyone in all stages of life from newborns to seniors.

What’s in a name?

Bowen Therapy, Bowenwork, or Bowtech Therapy is all the same modality. It just depends on what part of the world you are from as to what you call Bowen. In the United States the most common names are Bowen Therapy or Bowenwork. The word Bowen and Bowtech were already copyrighted. In Canada and Australia, Bowen Therapy is commonly known by Bowen and Bowtech.

What is a balanced body?

A balanced body simply means the body is in a state when you feel good and healthy.

Why are there pauses between moves?

The pauses are really important. It is when the body begins to reset, process the moves, and integrate the changes.

What if I don’t want to fill out the health forms?

All forms and sessions are held in
the strictest confidence. Only disclose what you are comfortable with.

How long should I wait after an injury to have a session?

The ideal time for a Bowen session is immediately after an injury. That way, your body can overcome the trauma before it begins to compensate for it. The sooner you can get to a Bowen practitioner, the better; usually within three days for the quickest and most complete recovery.
